Jack Kerouac had a such a bad LSD trip with Alan Ginsburg and Timothy Leary that he made them swear never to write about it (while he was alive) although he wrote a haiku about it. Dr. John Lilly dosed dolphins-not sure whether they had aural expansion, but Lilly would inject LSD and invariably end up in the hospital. He didn't describe them as bad trips though.
